JDC earned the highest rating from

in countries like Ukraine, Moldova, and Belarus. They are accomplished professional — doctors, lawyers, scientists, educators — who survived for decades under a regime that discriminated relentlessly against them. They’ve lived long lives filled with hardship and victory, love and loss. But today, they are the poorest Jews in the world, struggling to survive on as little as $2/day.

Rita's Story

Born in Kharkov, Ukraine, the year after the Nazis were defeated, 72-year-old Margarita Yakovlevna Lubashevskaya once lived her life as a classically trained pianist. As a child she suffered from chronic medical issues which have worsened with age. Today, she struggles to make ends meet on a meager pension.

JDC’s support is keeping her alive.

ABOUT JDC

We have a long, boots-on-the-ground tradition of helping Jews in crisis or need. Since 1914, JDC (The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee) has been a trusted member of the community, partnering with Jews around the world to bring lifesaving relief.

We know how to work in the former Soviet Union - we’ve been doing it since our earliest days. Reaching across 11 time zones and through extremely brutal winter conditions, we bring vital aid to communities in need. No other organization in the world has the know-how, the experience, the history, or infrastructure across the globe to get the job done like JDC. We are committed to saving the most vulnerable Jews.

You can help.

If Not You, Who?

Throughout history, Jews have proven that we are survivors. We are a strong community because we help each other, wherever in the world we are. Now the fate of our fellow Jews in the former Soviet Union is in your hands.

The world’s poorest Jews are counting on you. Make a generous donation today, and together, we can end the suffering of our Jewish brothers and sisters.

DON’T WAIT. SAVE LIVES TODAY.
